The rolled option is created by cutting and rolling cold sheet metal. Structural systems are made by way of hot sheet metal and are stronger and more durable. However, it is also more expensive. These systems can be customized with various accessories to best fit operational needs. Wire decking is one of the most popular accessories. Rather than sitting on two cross beams, wire decking offers the pallet a larger surface area to rest upon. This greatly reduces the risks of pallets falling, increasing both safety and stability. Wire decking meets OSHA standards and provides a valuable asset for warehouse operations. Post protectors are another add-on component. Also referred to as rack guards, post protectors are installed on the bottom of the upright frames. They work to protect against damage often caused by forklift or pallet collisions. They are bolted to either the floor or the upright frame. Safety panels and straps are optional accessories that provide a barrier between stored material and the edge of the rack. Their purpose is to stop material from falling off racks. Available in a wide variety, they are constructed from different materials to accommodate specific priorities. Row spacers can be added to better organize products and ensure even spacing along the shelves. They ensure pallet racks remain in a straight row and contribute to a more stabilized racking system. Wall ties are used to secure racks to the wall in a fixed position.
