If there is nothing to argue about we could have moved on quickly
There is no such thing as an amicable divorce. They are always ugly, drawn out and expensive. Lawyers charge so much for even an hour of their time. My ex-wife and I couldn’t agree on anything but keeping things fast. We didn’t want to lose a bunch of money hashing out details. We went back and forth deciding who gets what before even calling lawyers. One thing we agreed on was selling our Jacksonville, FL home fast for cash. It was a better decision financially than listing it. Selling a home on the market can take months. We wanted to have our biggest asset taken care of right away. We had a hefty check that was easy to go two ways. I then used a lot of that money to expedite the split and buy a new place. It was really nice having something go simple and easy. Stupid stuff like who gets the furniture was harder than getting rid of the house. If I could go back I wish I would have sold the entire property with everything in it to that cash buyer. If there is nothing to argue about we could have moved on quickly. It took way too long to device and cost more money than it should have been. It is just a relief it has been over.
